The Lady Margaret
Be Lord and Lady of The Manor in the Lady Margaret - the only private guest suite in the original manor.
The suite includes three rooms, all of which set the tone for a luxurious and indulgent stay. Named after Margaret, the wife of Colonel Francis Forde who built the house in 1761, the suite seeks to imbue the sense of warmth, luxuriant fabrics, space and privacy which some of the manor’s rooms and salons would have seen during their historic existence.
The bedroom of The Lady Margaret is designed by Ventura Design and in keeping with the interiors throughout the hotel, is in soothing tones of blue and beige. As a nod to the suite’s prestige, velvet was the choice for the curtains and soft furnishings, and this, combined with the soft pile carpet, gives the room a highly luxurious and relaxing atmosphere.
The bathroom has a walk-in shower, double sinks and a roll-top, slipper tub in front of a picture window. The ceramic double sinks, tub, and WC are fitted with chrome hardware, paying homage to the elegant nature of the manor’s Victorian heyday. Margaret Alicia Josephine Waterton was bequeathed the house in the mid-nineteenth century by her uncle, Colonel John Ennis, MP, and is believed to have been the first in the area to have installed a bathroom with hot and cold running water and an indoor lavatory.
The Living Room is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Two 3-seater sofas sit on either side of an open fireplace, above which is a 50” television. Everything you might need for a cocktail, afternoon tea, or a glass of something chilled is inside the walnut drinks cabinet. All you have to do is dial room service and we’ll do the rest.
